At Ken Hughes Wood Floors,
our philosophy is simply as follows:
We provide only high quality, low cost, wood floors.
How do we maintain low costs and high quality?
Please, read on...
First, let's talk about the quality.
Materials.
Over 40 years of experience in the
wood flooring trade has convinced us that we should
supply and install only the best quality, solid wood,
or engineered timber flooring* (available in various
widths and thicknesses) to ensure your property is
fully enhanced by its look and feel.
(*"Engineered timber flooring"
consists of a relatively thick, 3 part sandwich, though
made from genuine timber. This is not like the thinner
laminates used elsewhere.) |

We do not use laminates, or mass
produced synthetic materials; our floors are environmentally
friendly and arrive from a sustainable source.
With the use of natural products, each floor will have
unique aesthetic appeal and will not be prone to de-lamination,
splitting or other damage that can occur when cheaper
materials are used. |

The surface of each floor panel displays the beauty
of natural wood, rather than the laminated, photographed
versions that can be purchased from any DIY store.
We use quality Nordic wood flooring, including those
with Oak, Red Oak, Walnut, Rosewood, Ash, Beech, Maple,
Birch, Jarrah, Jatoba, Merbau and Cherry finishes. |

Installation.
We use only apprenticeship-served, highly experienced,
expert carpenters who we have worked with for
many years, people we trust to carry out a stunning
installation, either on your new floor, or other carpentry
requirements, for example doors. This, along with the
quality and thickness of the timber used means you can
be assured of a superb low maintenance floor which will
last for many, many years and which will in all likelihood,
add a real value to your property. |

| Our method in introducing you to
the possibilities is also fairly unique. We bring samples
of our range of products, in a well equipped van, directly
to your home or commercial premises, so that you can
choose the basic materials that will be most suitable
for your home or workplace. Your choice will therefore
be right for your properties ambient conditions. What
may have looked exactly right in a shop or warehouse,
under different lighting conditions and different surroundings,
can look entirely different in the eventual location.

So, what about the cost?
We do not have a shop or a warehouse
- so our overheads are low! This means we can maintain
very competitive prices in comparison to others in our trade.
Additionally, as our carpenters are paid separately, we are
also able to maintain our turnover at below the VAT threshold
- so our clients are not charged VAT,
a real benefit to domestic customers.
You might have noticed above, that we emphasise quality,
rather than cost.
High quality and low cost, can go hand-in-hand.
